Sunday 18 January saw more than 1,000 runners take part in the annual mud run.

The event, sponsored by Husqvarna, raised more than $12,000 for KidzCan – an NGO that supports children with cancer.

Set in open grounds behind Gateway school, organisers set up a running trail dotted with obstacles, and heavily watered to bring about slushy, squishy, sloppy mud. Kids and adults ran, crawled and slipped their way around the course.

“This was my second year here, and it was once again so much fun,” said Jessica, a young runner that came with her parents.

Following the event, organiser Sebastian Baumhoff, Innovate High Performance Centre manager expressed his pleasure, saying “We are extremely happy with this year’s event as we had even more attendees than last year as well as some new mud run obstacles. We’re hoping to make the event even better next year.”

Applause goes to Husqvarna and Innovate High Performance Centre for hosting this worthy and enjoyable event.
