The arrival of summer 2014 also marks the start of a new fashion initiative. The Fashion Collective Market is a fashion event taking place this Sunday, 28 September at the Palm Estate in Greystone Park.
It is a ‘pop up market’ which aims to support local fashion design by offering market space to talented designers trying to get off the ground, as well as establish local fashion brands.
The main focus of this initiative is on developing the local fashion industry and making this a lifestyle market, by selecting the best and most talented Zimbabwean designers to take part. The Fashion Collective Market will be more than just a mere pop-up market, but a networking/ business social that aids designers in making the right connections and collaborations that will be beneficial for their business growth
Selling everything fashion related across menswear, womenswear to accessories and taking place every quarter FCM is a place where designers can come together in one space to promote and sell their goods to the local market. This event not only promotes local design, but also provides the public with a space where they can easily access all the best local fashion design Zimbabwe has to offer.
The co founders of the Fashion Collective market, Danayi Chapfika (creative designer Haus of Stone) and Rudo Nondo (creative designer ANAIA) (both pictured) found an increased demand from designers around the country for an alternative retail experience particularly from young designers that are not currently equipped to take on the risk of a permanent retail rental space and still desire physical interaction with their clients.
Be sure to make your way to the Palm Estate 16a Stonechat Lane Greystone Park on September 28 for this alternative retail experience and meet and interact with #NDNM; Loncrae,; Ponela and Dee Kaw Zee to mention but a few.
