Day two of HIFA was full of interesting shows as the festival began to gain momentum. Festival-goers could be seen milling around in numbers at different venues.
At the National Gallery of Zimbabwe, the exhibition Zimbabwe In Design was officially opened in the afternoon. The exhibition, the first of its kind, saw different contemporary designs including furniture, graphics, basketry, textile and even jewellery on display. Zimbabwe In Design will show until the end of the month.
ZB Reps Theatre put on a theatrical masterpiece, The Gods You’ve Built. The play tells the story of a broken-hearted professor who committs suicide with the aid of a nun. A drunken police officer interrupts the two as they say their last prayers and in the end meets his own fate at the hands of the nun. The Gods You’ve Built is set in a barely functional public toilet starring Leeroy Gono and Derek Dziyaki.
Multi award-winning rapper Gerald Mugweni a.k.a Synik represented local hip hop with an amazing show. He wowed music lovers at a fully packed Coca Cola Green with songs such as Power Cut, Victory Lap, You’re A Star and Eye For An Eye among others. His collaborations with other rappers DJ Naida, Begotten Son and Munetsi were excellent.
Another amazing show was that of Spanish Trio Acada Canto at the Lays Global Stage. They played a soothing sound that saw even those who cannot speak Spanish moved. Their next performance will be today at 5.45pm, something great to look out for.
Day three promises to be a thriller with many people enjoying their rest on Worker’s Day. Shows to look out for include Dobet Gnahore, Tumbuka, David Kibuka and the DJ Party with Take Fizzo.

That’s a smart way of thinking about it.
I like the first look (probably wouldn’t have paired the dress with those shoes though), but the second look appears like a hot mess. I agree with the others that she should have gone up a size.
