THURSDAY (Independence Eve)
Uhuru Independence Concert at Belgravia Sports Club
South African house music quartet Uhuru of the Y-Tjukutja fame (pictured) will make their debut performance in Harare at Belgravia Sports Club. The group will share the stage with local artistes among them Pee Kay, reggae sound house Judgment Yard, MMT and High Definition among others. The show starts at 6pm. Cover charge is $10.
Red Fox Djs Edition
Red Fox Hotel will host Kenyan reggae DJ outfit, Black Supremacy Sound as part of their fourth anniversary celebrations. Other artists performing include the Red Fox Family Sound and Legendary Sound. The show starts at 8pm. Cover charge is $10.
Miami Nights at Mekka
Live Music Thursdays (LMT) presents Miami Nights at Mekka Lounge. The show will feature popular artists including DJ Jason Le Roux, Charles Summerfield, Rakesh Patel, Nicholas Skippa Fouriw, and DJ Rax. Entry is free before 10pm.
Urban Groover at Misty’s
Urban Groover come jazz musician Alexio Kawara will perform with his band Shades of Black at Mitsy’s in Newlands. Show starts at 7pm. Cover charge is $10.
FRIDAY (Good Friday, Independence)
Dudu Exhales at Alliance
Make a date with jazz sensation Dudu Manhenga at Alliance Francaise. Titled Dudu Exhales, the show will be her first since being incarcerated to be later released on bail last year. Show starts at 7pm. Cover charge is still to be announced.
Black Supremacy at Londoners
Kenyan Reggae Black Supremacy outfit will stage their second show in Harare at Londoners Sports. This will be a part of gigs organised by Red Fox Family to celebrate their fourth anniversary. Show starts at 8pm. Cover charge is yet to be announced.
Cynthia Mare at Grain Lounge Bar
Seasoned musician Cynthia Mare of the Amai fame will perform at the Grain Lounge Bar (former Red Bar) at Newlands Shopping Centre. The show which celebrates the country’s Independence will start at 6pm. Cover charge is $10.
Tanga WekwaSando at Misty’s
Most of you remember Tanga WekwaSando from the late 90s. Well, he is back on stage again to give his fans his highly energetic of township jazz. Catch him at Misty’s at 7pm. Cover charge is $15 per couple and $10 for singles.
SATURDAY (Easter Saturday)
Anniversary Bands Edition at Red Fox
Red Fox Hotel continues with their fourth anniversary celebrations, this time with top reggae bands. The line up includes Red Radicals, Mic Inity, Mannex and the Mofamilee, Transit Crew and House of Stone. Show starts at 8 pm, cover charge $10.
SUNDAY (Easter Sunday)
Easter Sunday Bash at Big Apple
The recently opened Big Apple Night Club at Corner Nelson Mandela and Mbuya Nehanda will host a rare collaborative show. Sungura icon Alick Macheso will stage with dendera star Sulumani Chimbetu in a gig dubbed the Easter Sunday Bash. Show starts at 8pm, cover charge is $10.
Maad Sunday at Red Fox
It’s the battle of ZiFm Stereo and Star Fm as Red Fox Hotel hosts the top radio reggae DJ pairs for this week’s Maad Sunday. ZiFM’s Judgment Yard, the traditional Maad Sunday hosts will clash with Star FM’s Immortal Sound. Show starts at 8pm, cover is charge
