Popular stand up comedian Victor Mpofu a.k.a Doc Vikela will on Monday leave for his debut tour of South Africa.
The comedian, a co-founder of the monthly Simuka Comedy night, will be performing in Cape Town at the Jou Ma Se Comedy Club and Armchair Theatre on 31 January and 2 February respectively. Doc Vikela explains, “I am very happy to be performing in front of a different audience than what I am used to. It’s a challenge I feel I need as I continue to grow as a performer.”
He said both shows will give Cape Town a hilarious feel of Zimbabwean comedy. “I’m going there to make people laugh and God help me if I don’t do just that,” he said.
Meanwhile, his publicist Shanee Banda says, “Doc Vikela will also be representing the local fashion industry as he will be dressed by Kay Seven CL. The fashion design house will also be dressing him for the whole year.”
Doc Vikela is a celebrated comedian who rose from the Book Café Open Mic sessions in 2011. He has since performed on various stages around Harare receiving rave reviews. In 2012 he won the Most Improved Comedian Award from the Zimbabwe Germany Society.
