Varsity Blues Promotion is launching the first ever Harare Countdown Festival at Harare Gardens this Saturday afternoon.
The festival, which runs as a countdown to the New Year, will be launched with performances by celebrated musicians such as Audius Mtawarira, Roki, Guspy Warrior, Chikwata 263, Judgement Yard and Shinsoman.
Varsity Blues public relations officer and event coordinator Tavonga Mafundikwa explains: “We have four shows lined up to run every weekend of December starting this Saturday.” He said other events would take place on 20 and 28 December at Harare Gardens leading to the grand finale which will take place on First Street on New Year’s Eve.
“For all the shows we have selected artists from different walks of life with the aim of uniting the people of Harare to come together and celebrate the festive season in style,” said Mafundika. He added that fireworks will also feature at the festival starting tomorrow and on Thursday at Harare Gardens. The final show on the New Year’s Eve will have a 30 minutes long display.
The Harare Countdown Festival celebrates people’s achievements in 2013. Mafundikwa urged corporates to join in and celebrate what they had achieved throughout the year while celebrating life and the good that will come with forthcoming season.
“It is amazing how people are already embracing the festival. Our tickets are selling very well considering the fact that they cost $10. It has been a positive indicator for what will most likely be a successful gathering,” he said.
Advance tickets are available at Jazz 105.
