Afro-fusion legend Oliver ‘Tuku’ Mtukudzi is set to make his debut performance at Red Fox Hotel in a homecoming show this Friday night.
Dubbed Homecoming KuMarasta, the show will see the acclaimed super star sharing the stage with reggae star Mike Madamombe a.k.a Mic Inity and the wife of the late Andy Brown, Nadine a.k.a Lady Fire.
The show will be Tuku’s first performance in the country since he left for a tour of United Kingdom over two months ago.
Co-director of Red Fox Hotel, Robert Zhuwao says: “The show is aimed at presenting our theme of combining reggae music which we are synonymous for and local music genres, having had Alick Macheso at the beginning of winter and two very successful Sulumani Chimbetu and Mic Inity Batai Munhu editions.”
Homecoming KuMarasta will be Tuku and Mic Inity’s first combined show.
Zhuwao said this will also act as a platform to start Mic Inity’s summer scheme, after he re-branded in January.
The re-branding has so far seen the artist creating his own band, the Red Radicals, and laying down an album, which is near completion.
“The fusion with artists from different genres is developing Mic Inity into the international act we are packaging him to be,” said Zhuwao. Tomorrow’s show will also act as Red Fox Hotel’s launch of the Summer Fire Friday Mic Inity Live band ‘Invitationals’.
This will see Red Fox Entertainment inviting artists from different genres collaborating with Mic Inity at Red Fox Hotel.
“We will record these invitational shows on video as we develop live DVD entertainment. We want to bring Red Fox Entertainment into people’s living rooms,” he said.
The next artist on the Invitational programme will be Emmanuel Manyeruke a.k.a Guspy Warrior and the Mafia band.
Catch this exciting collaboration at the Red Fox, Friday 6 September at 8pm. Tickets:$10 before 11, $20 after.
