The community spirit of Harare’s musicians will be on display tomorrow when they come together to raise money and save a life.
Edith WeUtonga, a leading bassist and singer on the Zimbabwean and international circuits, is feeling the love as an exciting line up of artists will perform tomorrow night to fundraise for her son, 10 month old Madalitso.
Madalitso is suffering from a ventricular septal defect. Simply put, he has a hole in his heart, and a big one. This condition is life threatening, and tomorrow’s gig is a final push to raise the $6,000 shortfall on the $15,000 sum needed to fly Edith and Madalitso to India for the life saving surgery.
“India turned out to be the cheapest option available. The only cardiac paediatrician in Zimbabwe was unable to perform the operation and South Africa was nearly twice the price of India,” Edith told Harare News today.
In addition to the star spangled line up, a cocktail dress by Colin Ratisai will go under the hammer to further assist in reaching the target.
Tomorrow’s audience will delight in the musical talents of Victor Kunonga, Jah Prayzah, AlexioKawara, Ammara Brown, Batsirai Chigama, Sister Flame and Edith herself.
Tickets are $10 and the show starts at 6pm. All proceeds go towards Madalitso’s surgery and expenses. To assist through donations please contact Elton (0773159667) or Edith (0774133274).
